University of Maryland Accreditation

The University of Maryland, College Park is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), under the authority of the U.S. Department of Education.

The university's accreditation status is reviewed every eight years, and our accreditation was last reaffirmed in June 2017. The Statement of Accreditation Status provides information about the University and MSCHE and is publicly available on the MSCHE website

2017 Accreditation Review Process

The university conducted a self-study as part of the requirements for the 2017 accreditation review. Seven working groups reviewed the university based on the seven standards for accreditation that the MSCHE has implemented to review institutions. The university's 2017 Self-Study was the result of that work. It was submitted to MSCHE and the peer Evaluation Team, in preparation for their visit to campus April 2-5, 2017. Based on the self-study report and the campus visit, the peer Evaluation Team issued their final report.

The university adheres to NC-SARA's student complaint process for students in online programs.
